Liner under composite in very deep cavity, Vitrebond
Hi All
I always used Vitrebond (powder+liquid) but now it is only available in Clicker form and its such a waste as a lot of material is extruded with one click.
Can someone suggest another product in the bottle and powder form which works out more economical.
Thanking you in advance.

Re: Liner under composite in very deep cavity, Vitrebond
Hi There
Personally I dont use any liners at all.
I always chlorexidine/wash first, then total etch then use Optibond FL-
Rarely ever get sensitivity post treatment
Just my opinion- happy to be corrected!!

Hi Mikath,
There are numerous products that can function as a liner, base or cement. It all depend on the case and the cavity in your hand.
Here it is important to determine whether you are trying to protect the pulp, replace the dentin with a dentin substitute material or just trying to building a tooth core up.
-Liners are applied in a very thin layer not more than 0.5mm.
-Bases can be applied in thick layers.
CaOH material should be used as a liner only to cover pulp floor. These materials come in both self cured and light cured versions(Dycal/Dentsply;Life/Kerr)
On the other hand, GIC materials can be used as both liners or bases. In self cured version or powder /liquid type come ( vitrebond/3M, Lining cement/GC, Shofu base cement/Shofu, MaestroGIC type III/Maestro, Glass Base/pupldent, Glass Line/pupldent.
In light cured version come Vitrebond/3M, Denseal LC Line/Base/PrevestDenPro,etc.
FujiII LC /GC and Vitremer/3M are well promoted as core build up materials as well as dentin substitutes.
SDR-Smart Dentin Replacement :a composite resin from Dentsply has been developed specifically for dentin replacement in Class I and II deep cavities and can be bulk-placed and cured in increments of up to 4 mm without the concern of postoperative sensitivity.
